About
Welcome to my pastoral narrative life counseling website. As a counselor, I have a genuine passion for helping people live more fulfilling and meaningful lives. Growing up in Reitz, a small town in the Eastern Free State, I discovered my natural gift for listening, empathizing, and caring for others from an early age. This curiosity, passion, love, and appreciation for people were innate in me, and it has driven me to pursue a career in counseling.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Maths, Chemistry, and Psychology, a diploma in Higher Education, and an Advanced Certificate in Pastoral Narrative Counseling. As a pastoral narrative counselor, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for every person to be heard. I believe that everyone has a unique story, and by exploring and understanding our stories, we can gain insight, make positive changes, and find healing and hope.
One of the techniques I employ in my counseling practice is externalization. This approach helps people separate themselves from their problems and see their identity as distinct from the challenges they may be facing. I strongly believe that a person’s identity can never be the problem and that the problem is separate from them. There are days when we can’t perceive it that way, and that’s where professional counseling can be beneficial. As a professional, I understand the distinction between a person’s relationship with the problem and their identity.
I am confident that I can help people on their journey toward a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and help you navigate through life’s challenges.
I respect every person to be the expert of their life journey.
Prior to starting my practice, I had to walk a long difficult, traumatic road. There was times when it seems very dark, painful, confusing, and frightening.
Many years have passed since.
Today I look back with joy, gratitude, and even good memories despite of the dark, traumatic road. Nothing will erase the memories but the unique outcome was the birthplace of my alternative story since then.
Do you feel that you are walking around with your head on fire and no one can see the flames?
You are not broken and in need of fixing: your are hurt and in need of healing.
I quote: “you can’t wait until Life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.” (Jane Marczewski – Nightbirde)
To make positive changes in our lives, it’s sometimes necessary to sit in the presence of someone else… A person/community with the ability to listen with empathy for a unique outcome/s in your story. A unique outcome present the place of beauty and the signs for creativity and development, the birthplace of your alternative story.
Sometimes the greater victory is learning to walk with Jesus when suffering remains. (Sarah J Robinson) As you walk with Christ, you can see your heavy burdens through a new lens. In the midst of the storm, when the wind blows and we boecome vulnerable, we are ready to communicate.
Vulnerability is essential to our survival as humans. In order to be creative and develop, we need to be brave and use our fears, shame, and comparisons to our advantage.
